Who We Support

The Shebie Foundation exists to support women living with Endometriosis and Adenomyosis who are facing financial barriers to accessing the treatment they need.

These conditions can cause debilitating pain, fatigue, organ complications and a significant reduction in quality of life. Unfortunately, for many women across Australia, the cost of specialist care and surgery can be overwhelming.

We are here to help bridge that gap.

Our Support Focus

The Shebie Foundation provides financial assistance to women who:

• Have a confirmed diagnosis of Endometriosis or Adenomyosis
• Have been recommended treatment or surgery by a qualified specialist
• Are experiencing financial hardship or barriers to accessing care
• Require support to help cover out-of-pocket medical or surgical costs

Our aim is to ensure that women are not forced to delay or forgo treatment simply because of financial circumstances.

Who Can Apply

Applications are open to women in Australia who meet the following criteria:

• A confirmed diagnosis from a recognised medical professional
• A treatment plan provided by a specialist
• Demonstrated financial need
• Willingness to provide supporting documentation required for assessment

Each application is reviewed carefully and compassionately by the Shebie Foundation review panel to ensure funding is distributed fairly and transparently.

Our Commitment

We understand that every woman’s journey with Endometriosis or Adenomyosis is unique. While we cannot fund every request, we are committed to supporting as many women as possible and advocating for improved access to care across Australia.

Our goal is simple:

No woman should suffer in silence because she cannot afford treatment.

Types of Support We Provide

The Shebie Foundation provides financial assistance grants to help women access medical treatment for Endometriosis and Adenomyosis when financial barriers would otherwise prevent them from receiving care.

While each case is assessed individually, funding may contribute toward:

Surgical Gap Fees

Out-of-pocket costs associated with medically recommended surgery.

Specialist Medical Costs

Consultations, treatment planning, and required specialist care relating to Endometriosis or Adenomyosis treatment.

Hospital or Procedure Costs

Gap payments or medical costs associated with approved procedures.

Essential Treatment-Related Expenses

In some cases, funding may also assist with necessary costs directly connected to accessing treatment.

All applications are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and funding is provided at the discretion of the Shebie Foundation review panel.

Our goal is to ensure women have access to appropriate medical care without financial hardship becoming the barrier to treatment.

Who We Cannot Support

To ensure fairness and maintain transparency, there are some situations where the Shebie Foundation is unable to provide financial assistance.

At this time, the foundation cannot provide funding for:

• Medical treatments not recommended by a qualified specialist
• Procedures performed by unlicensed or unverified providers
• Treatments unrelated to Endometriosis or Adenomyosis
• Cosmetic procedures or non-medical treatments
• Ongoing living expenses not directly related to medical treatment
• Retrospective funding for procedures already completed

Additionally, the Shebie Foundation does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations. All treatment decisions must be made between the applicant and their healthcare professionals.

Our role is to assist with financial access to care, not to determine or recommend medical treatment.

Transparency & Fairness

The Shebie Foundation is committed to distributing funding ethically, transparently and responsibly.

Due to limited resources, not all applications may be approved. Each request is reviewed carefully against eligibility criteria and available funding.

We aim to support as many women as possible while ensuring the long-term sustainability of the foundation.
